Formaldehyde Molecule
Formaldehyde has a chemical formula H2CO. It is the simplest aldehyde and was first synthesized by the Russian chemist Aleksandr Butlerov, but was conclusively identified by August Wilhelm von Hofmann. At room temperature formaldehyde is a gas.
